Aim:  Introduction to design of integrated chemical engineering process plants, and introductions to the execution of complex design tasks.
Contents:  The important elements in the design process: Problem specification; process selection; synthesis of process flow diagrams; equipment selection and sizing; selection of materials of construction; instrumentation; process simulation; environment and safety; economic evaluation. These elements are dealt with in lectures and problem solving, with the assistance of external lectures. In the lattes half of the course is taught project work and organization, mainly through execution, in team-work, of a preliminary design of a chemical engineering process.
