Aim: To give a thorough knowledge of new methods and theories applied in the calculation of thermodynamic properties of non-ideal mixtures. Especially with emphasis on the composition of phases in equilibrium.
Contents: Calculations of fugacities of gas and liquid mixtures using equations of state. Excess property models for non-ideal systems. Group contribution methods. Estimation of parameters in equations of state and liquid phase models. Consistency test of vapour-liquid equilibrium data. Vapour-liquid, liquid-liquid, gas-liquid and solid-liquid equilibria. Polymer and electrolyte solutions.
Remarks: Advanced course which requires active participation of the students. The course is important for master thesis works in the area of thermodynamics and separation processes. Advanced level suitable for PhD students.
