Aim:  To provide the student with an insight into the problems of patenting and the commercial utilisation of inventions, including licensing. The student should be able to explain and use the terms and concepts used in the patenting literature.
Contents:  Introduction to patent law. Examples of patents. Case studies. The central issues are treated in lectures and exercised through case studies. The project can be a practical investigation of a concrete invention and its patentability. Patent officers from Danish industry supervise the project.
Remarks:  Patent- og Varemærkestyrelsen runs the course for DTU in collaboration with major industry partners.
