Aim: To introduce a number of molecular methods relevant for investigations of bacteria in natural environments. |
Contents: The students will be introduced to the use of methods and equipment representing the state-of-the-art in molecular microbial ecology. These will comprise combinations of molecular genetics and fluorescence microscopy, construction of specific strains for the analysis of gene expression and gene transfer in situ, establishment and analysis of bacterial communities on surfaces (biofilms), investigations of chemical communication in bacterial populations etc. |
