Aim:  To introduce advanced methodology in biochemical research.
Contents:  Biochemical techniques: Extraction methods, preparative column chromatography, incl. FPLC and affinity-chromatography. Analytical methods for characterisation of biomacromolecules, incl. gel electrophoresis, immunelectrophoresis, isoelectric focusing, ELISA-techniques, immunoblotting, HPLC, FPLC and GC. Metabolic studies: Purification of subcellular organelles using preparative ultracentrifugation, use of marker enzymes. Purification of peripheral neutrophils from man and peritoneal neutrophils from rats. Application of radioisotopes in metabolic studies. Image processing and classification of complex biochemical data. Isolation, separation and characterisation of lipoproteins.
