Aim:  To give an introduction to the basis of immunology. To give the student the theoretical basis for reading and understanding immunological literature. To give the theoretical background for using immunochemical methods in solving nutritional and biochemical problems.
Contents:  The molecular and cellular background for immune reactions. Synthesis, structure and function of immunoglobulins. The T-cell receptor. The major histo-compatibility complex. Antigen-antibody reactions. Composition and function of the complement system. Cell-mediated immunity. Immunity and infection. Allergy. Transplantation immunology. Immune technology and immuno chemical analysis.
