Previous course:  25780
No credit points with:  25780
Participant limitation:  Max. 16
Aim:  To give a thorough theoretical and practical introduction to newer methods of separation of biomolecules, including macromlecules of improtance for Food production and isolation and characterisation of subcellular membrane fractions
Contents:  Lectures on the theoretical basis of separation and detection systems. Theoretical and instrumental introduction to HPLC, GC, capillary electrophoresis, mass spectrometry, two dimensional electrophoresis, centrifugation, amino acid analysis, and protein sequencing. The experimental work will include sample preparation, column packing test, evaluation of columns and separations of amino acids, proteins, vitamins, lipids and membrane fractions from different types of tissue. The utility of the methods will be discussed with special attention to their compatibility with the stability of biological material.
Remarks:  Students following the Food Science and Technology education has priority. The course is open for other students if there are vacancies.
