Aim: The aim of the course is to give the student an understanding of the basic principles of operations related to processing (purification) of biological materials especially enzymes |
Contents: The content of the course is an introduction to planning, strategy and use of techniques to e.g., concentration , clarification / separation , isolation. The methods includes precipitation, two-phase systems, chromatography. The practical exercises will be planning and carrying out a purification of a protein (enzyme). Problems of upscaling will be illustrated. |
Remarks: The course has as aim to train coorporation, concise communication and planning, making decisions based on acheived results in the lab. |
