Aim: To give participants basic knowledge of structures and materials in existing buildings, and with this background to enable them to renovate and remodel using traditional as well as new building techniques and building methods. |
Contents: The course is in two parts. The first part presents in a series of lectures an overview of the evolution of building design and building technique. Through group work students will more closely examine and report on various categories and periods of building design. The second part focuses on selected categories and periods of building design, and through project work in groups will make proposals for renovation and rebuilding, either in more general form or bases on actual existing buildings. |
