Recommended semester: 4th -7th semester |
Scope and form: Lectures, exsamples and laboratory excercises. |
Evaluation: Oral presentation and approval of reports
|
Examination: 13-scale |
Previous course: 59203 og 59440 |
Prerequisites: 59106 / 11501">11501">11501">11501 Students having an other prerequisite corresponding to 11501">11501">11501">11501 must make the two laboratory exercises about concrete in 11501">11501">11501">11501 in parallel. |
Preferred prerequisites: 59402. 10012. 21010 |
Participant limitation: Min. 10 Max. 20 |
Aim: To give the students a basic knowledge of the structure and properties of concrete in such a way that they obtain a sufficiently background 1)to select raw materials for concrete and to design, produce and use concrete correctly and economically and 2)to participate in investigation and assessment of existing concrete structures. |
Contents: As far as practically possible the course is based on materials science concepts, so that the students obtain a fundamental understanding of the relationships between structure and properties of concrete. Problems of practical use for civil engineers: Selection of constituent materials, including properties of cement. Flow properties. Execution (production and curing). Development of mikrostructure. Mechanical properties (stiffnes, fracture, creep and shrinkage). Development of properties as a function of time and temperature. Durability. |
