| Aim: To give the participants a detailed knowledge of the most recent research within optical networks. |
| Contents: Network topologies. Optical cross-connects and switching elements. Advanced transmission techniques and their limitations (WDM, non-linear effects, optical phase conjugation, noise etc.). Traffic theory and traffic types (services). Management of optical networks, configuration, performance and fault management (network restoration). |
| Remarks: Participation in the meetings is compulsory as well as a written report covering studied material |
