34200 Electro Preliminary Project

Participant limitation:  Max. 30
Aim:  To train students in a rational approach to development carried out by a group.
Contents:  The project starts in the middle of the 12-week period. The students are divided into groups. Each group chooses an exercise (see below). The group formulates a detailed specification and makes a plan for contents and time schedule. The written specification, plan, and time schedule are to be approved before the beginning of the 3-week period. During the 3-week period, the construction and testing are carried out and the final report is written. During the course each group builds a simple digital communication circuit or network.
The construction contains elements of at least one of the following subjects
- Implementation of digital circuits with integrated circuits
- Implementation of complicated functions in programmable circuits
- Software programming.
Examples are:
- Telephone equipment (Dialler, telephone answering machine, caller identification equipment)
- Encoder / decoder for error detecting or correcting code
- Units for functions in communication networks
- Small local area network.
Remarks:  The course is for Electro Preliminary Programme students only.
