Scope and form: Project work in groups of 3 students |
Evaluation: Approval of coursework/reports
An oral presentation of preliminary results of project is expected to be done in the 3-week period. |
Examination: Pass/fail |
Previous course: 46150 / 52150 |
Prerequisites: 31000 |
No credit points with: 31010 / 46150 / 49111 / 49150 / 50150 / 51150 / 52150 / 53150 |

Aim: To train students in a rational approach to development carried out by a group. |
Contents: The project starts in the middle of the 12-week period. The students are divided into groups. Each group chooses an exercise (see below). The group formulates a detailed specification and makes a plan for contents and time schedule. The written specification, plan, and time schedule are to be approved before the beginning of the 3-week period. During the 3-week period, the construction and testing are carried out and the final report is written. During the course each group builds a simple digital communication circuit or network. The construction contains elements of at least one of the following subjects - Implementation of digital circuits with integrated circuits - Implementation of complicated functions in programmable circuits - Software programming. Examples are: - Telephone equipment (Dialler, telephone answering machine, caller identification equipment) - Encoder / decoder for error detecting or correcting code - Units for functions in communication networks - Small local area network. |
