Aim:  The aim is to enable the participants to develop equipment and applications as well as being technically responsible within digital AV production. Eg. equipment for film, TV-production and distribution and Internet applications.
Contents:  The course especially treats the techniques of digital video, TV and film production and distribution. The course covers the technically aspects of the whole process from production (recording, editing, ...) to distribution (network / telecommunication, disks, film). The course treats important standards and formats, eg MPEG1-4 (including conversions between these), synchronization / time coordination of image, sound etc. Interactive TV, set-top boxes, variable bandwidth, cascade coding, distribution and contribution of TV, viewers, (searching in) video-databases, enhancement og images. Distribution covers cable, terrestrial and satellite distribution as well as Internet. network and discs.
Remarks:  The course is a joint course between COM and IMM.
