Aim: To give the participants a detailed knowledge of the protocols used in modern communication networks. Understand the mechanisms lying behind different types of protocols and being able to evaluate protocols (e.g. by simulation). The students are expected to have a priori knowledge of network and protocols. |
Contents: Transport and tuneling protocols. High-speed point-to-point protocols, Hierarchical routing protocols, Resource reservation protocols, Protocols for streaming multimedia, Network management protocols, Protocols used for MPLS, Virtual Private Networks, Network address translation and security issues, policy based routing. |
Remarks: Participation in the meetings is compulsory as well as a written report covering the studied material. |
