Aim:  To give an introduction to the different Internet technologies, their development and regulation, and the application of these technoloies
Contents:  The course will address the following themes:
The emergence and development of the Internet, its organization and regulation, e.g., the development of standards etc.
Basic Internet technologies such as TCP / IP, HTTP, HTML, XML, browsers, CGI, ASP, search engines, etc.
Advanced Internet technologies such as Java applets and servlets, cascading style sheets, DHTML, Active-X, WAP, etc.
Applications of internet technologies for companies, public organisations and single users, running on fixed as well as mobile terminals.
The Internet as a platform for CSCW and Groupware, and the issue of convergence of technologies.
Remarks:  The course is recommeded as a prerequisite to other courses at the Center for Tele-information.
