Aim:  This course provides an overview of the problems of solid waste and in sight into main technologies and management issues. Specific skills are developed regarding waste management planing, source separation, incineration and landfilling. Principles and tools for environmental assessment of waste mangement systems are also provided.
Contents:  Waste generation, amounts and composition; waste collection and separation; reuse and recycling; incineration; biological waste treatment (composting, biogas); landfilling; waste policy and regulation; waste management; environmental assessment of waste management; hazardous waste.
