Aim:  (1) to obtain an understanding of the governing processes of the hydrologic cycle including exchange processes between atmosphere and soil surface, surface water runoff, unsaturated flow and groundwater flow
(2) to be able to formulate these processes in mathematical terms
(3) to understand and solve problems related to water resources development including groundwater and surface water
Contents:  Atmospheric processess, precipitation-evaporation physics, rainfall-runoff, surface water, unsaturated flow, non-steady groundwater flow, pumping tests, solute transport: advection, dispersion, diffusion, numerical modeling.
Remarks:  The course is prerequisite for 12322 Applied geophysics and hydrogeological modeling, 12340 Flow and transport in porous media, and 12341 Surface water hydrology.
