Aim: The course gives the student an overall perspective on front-line research topics in material science on the nanometer scale, as well as an in-depth insight into one of these topics which is chosen for the report. |
Contents: Introduction to nanostructures and their properties. Synthesis of nanoparticles and thin film structures. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy (STM). Manipulation of nanostructures. Nanochemistry. Self organised molecules. Quantisized conductivity. Nanooptics. Nanoelectronics. Mechanical properties of nanostructured materials. Magnetic nanostructures. Superparamagnetism. Data storage in nanostructured materials. |
Remarks: The course is given in collaboration with Mikroelektronik Centret, the University of Copenhagen and the University of Lund. |
