Aim: The purpose is to enable participants to plan and perform an experiment involving radioactive material. Selection of radionuclide and measurement technique. Calculation of the necessary amount of radioactivity taking due consideration of health physics. |
Contents: Atomic and nuclear structure. Nuclear mass and stability. Nuclear decay. Radioactivity. Ionizing radiation and matter. Measurement of radioactivity: GM-counters, liquid and solid state scintillation counters, semiconductor detectors. Radiochemical methods. Radiation doses. Radiation protection. |
