02333 Parallel and Real-time systems

Aim:  To give the student the possibility to construct and use an operating system including and emphasising on systems for parallel- and real time use in embedded systems
Contents:  - Modelling
- Multi programming, the concepts of the time processes and parallelity.
- Ressources, critical regions, semaphores, monitors and rendezvous.
- Synchronisation,: time, event and messages.
- Priority, dead lock and starvation.
- Implementation and use of kernels for parallel and real time programming.
- Operating systems: Processes, treads, set up and deletion, communication mechanisms, drivers, file system, ressource administration and security.
Remarks:  The course consists of a combined period of theory and exercises.
The participants are devided into groups, cooperation on exercises/projects.
