Aim:  To give in-depth knowledge of the presentation, analysis and application of spatial information which offer qualifications for:
- working in public and private organisations which deal with geographical information systems,
- working as technical co-ordinator between different professional groups with a need for analysis and visualization of geo-related data.
Contents:  The course includes the geographical components in digital map databases and offers theories and methods for processing different datatypes and combining them into applicable systems.
On a more advanced level, the course deals with data capture by GPS, photogrammetry, laser scanning, multispectral scanning, and radar as well as with data processing in photogrammetric workstations, image analysis systems and geographical information systems. Subjects like digital object recognition, geodesy, data modelling, data quality and methods for raster analysis will be presented. Different aspects of data presentation in GIS will be examined: cartography, elevation models, and urban modelling.
Remarks:  The course consists of a series of lectures and project work in co-operation with a private business, a public institution or administration.
