Kursusmål:  The emphasis is on understanding probabilistic models and phenomena and on models which have nummerical solutions. Based on theory, the course is aimed at the advanced practitioner who wants to make applied probability an active part of his engineering toolbox.
Persons who can beneth from the course are those who do mathematical modelling and who want to gain insight into the behavior of models by getting specific nummerical results.
Typically, they are:
OR analysts, Production engineers / students, Performance engineers / students, Computer and telecommunication engineers / students, Postgraduate students in OR, applied mathematics, statistics and other related disciplines
Bemærkninger:  The course will be given by Marcel F. Neuts who will visit DTU fall 2001
Marcel Neuts has made significant contributions to the field of applied probability and he is well-known scholar and an eminent teacher. He has supervised a number of succesful ph.d. students many of whom now hold prominent positions in academics and industry, primarily within telecommunications.
Marcel F. Neuts is the author of four books in applied probability and a number of scientific papers
