Aim: To supplement the theory from 80251. To enable the students to make micro- and macroscopic examination of metallic materials and to evaluate the results. |
Contents: Practical training in metallographic methods, e.g. use of light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and micro analysis. Mechanical testing, melting, casting, and heat treatment of alloys. The following topics are investigated: phase diagrams, phase transformations, heat treatment of steel, diffusion, deformation, recrystallisation, and fracture. |
