F4-A (jun 04 2002), E4-A (dec 18 2001) |
Recommended semester: 4th -7th semester |
Scope and form: Each course day is devoted to a single topic, on the basis of lectures, exercises, demonstrations in laboratory, discussions, laboratory exercises, numerical analyses applying the departments as well as commercial computer programs. |
Evaluation: Written exam or project report
|
Examination: xx |
Previous course: 80213, 80414 |
Participant limitation: Max. 30 |
Aim: To enable the students to analyse complex bulk and sheet metal forming processes by theoretical, numerical and experimental methods. To apply these analyses in: 1) determining the conditions in the interior of the material during as well as after processing, for example strains, strain rates, stresses, temperature variations, flow stress, hardness distribution and fracture, 2) determining favourable process and tool parameters and materials and 3) designing and calculating metal forming tools. To introduce the monitoring and testing methods in process design and process control and in evaluation of materials, tools and cutting fluids for machining. To introduce theoretical models and test methods concerning friction and lubrication in bulk and sheet metal forming. |
Contents: The following programme outlines the contents: 1) Bulk Metal Forming (theoretical analysis); 2) Bulk Metal Forming (drawing); 3) Bulk Metal Forming (cold forging, materials and process parameters); 4) Bulk Metal Forming (cold forging, tool design); 5) Sheet Metal Forming (modelling and testing of anisotropy); 6) Sheet Metal Forming (theoretical instability); 7) Sheet Metal Forming (testing of formability); 8) Sheet Metal Forming (deep drawing); 9) Metal Cutting (Parameters and measurements); 10) Metal Cutting (Testing methods); 11) Metal Cutting (Tests); 12) Metal Cutting (Tests); 13) Process Tribology (modelling and testing of friction and lubrication). |
