42260 Project Course in Process Technology
Danish title: Projektkursus i procesteknik
Language:  English    ECTS-creditpoints:  5
Type:  , open university
Class schedule:   januar
juni
Exam schedule:   No exam
Recommended semester:  At any time during the study
Scope and form:  Individual experimental exercises including basic experimental methods of analysis
Evaluation:  Oral presentation and approval of reports
Examination:  13-scale
Previous course:  80212
Prerequisites:  42301 Production Technology I
Participant limitation:  Max. 30
Aim:  To enable the participants to: 1) based on a short literature study to concretize a problem within a specific process in metal forming, metal cutting, casting, welding, laser or plastics processing to an experimental model, 2) to carry out an experimental investigation based on the literature study, including compulsory as well as individual methods of analyses applying and possibly modifying the theory from the course Production Technology I 42301
Contents:  Literature study, planning of experimental investigation, theoretical and experimental work, data acquisition, analysis of experimental results, conclusion, reporting, presentation. It is emphasized that the experimental work has sufficient breadth, ensuring that basic methods of analysis are included as a compulsory part of the course. Among such basic methods of analysis are the following: determination of materials data such as stress-strain curve, hardness testing, testing of surface topography, application of surface grid and strain analysis, measurement of force, stress and temperature and analysis by physical modelling. Emphasis is laid on application of computers in the experimental work (computer assisted data acquisition) as well as in the subsequent data treatment and presentation.
It is furthermore emphasized that the participants gets a clear impression of project work through the free part of the exercise, where all the basic activities in larger projects are included in small scale.
