- define alternative manufacturing processes.
- evaluate these alternatives on the basis of e.g. time and material use, and costs of tools and machinery.
- detailed planning of selected manufacturing system including part operations, determination of operation data and select / design tools etc.
- to evaluate the selected system through work-shop exercises.
Contents:  Possible topics are:
Formulation of the methods planning problem when drawings and production equipment are given. Planning of alternative manufacturing systems by decomposing into processes / operations in order to: Evaluate these alternatives on the basis of e.g. time and material use and costs of tools and machinery, make a detailed planning of the selected progress by decomposing into partial operations, determinate operation data, select / design tools etc., estimate set-up and operation time and determine material and tool costs, and finally prove the validity of selected systems through practical exercises.
