Aim:  To give the participants a competence in leading and participating in crossdisciplinary project work. to give insight into areas Industrial Design and Economy / marketing and their cohenrence with engineering work. Based on a project oriented industrial collaboration, the course 42373">42373 focuses on the topics task understanding, focussing, and selection af area for the continued work. Furthermore is given a basic introduction for designers, engineers and business administration students into each others areas. The courses 42373">42373 and 42374 imply an interest and experience (e.g. from previous courses) in development work. The courses form a whole together with a final year project, and the courses are therefore reserved to students on their 9th semester, who immediately after can continue with their final year project within the topic. In the spring semester joint supervison is offered during the final year project together with the other two institutions.
Contents:  The course i taught in collaboration with students from Danmarks Designskole and Copenhagen Business School and is physically placed at Danmarks Designskole. The course gives a basic introduction to the topics Industrial Design, economy / marketing and engineering development and a training in project management and teambuilding is given. In the beginning at the course there is a one week trip to a design oriented city.In collaboration with an industrial company analyses is carried out of company strategy and economy, of marked situation, of a selected product and its production / lifecycle, and of customers / users.This is done by students in teams with three persons. These analyses will form the basis for selecting the areas where conceptual solutions should be generated in the succeeding course 42374. In the end of the course each team will produce a report and present their results at a presentation where the company also can participate. Major working areas in the course include: Strategy, corporate identety, aestetics, semiotics, production, product lifecycle, product development.
Remarks:  Letter of interest should be given to the teacher before 15. may 2001. Advisory interviews of interested students will be conducted in May and June.
