Aim:  To enable students to:
- describe and analyse in an enterprise total quality management (TQM) and production and inventory management and supply chains (SCM)
- evaluate, select and apply relevant planning principles, methods and techniques
- analyse and evaluate the problems and the solution from different points of view
- develop, evaluate and participate in implementing of the solutions.
Contents:  Quality management seen from different points of view: product liability, organizational / interdepartmental co-operation, external quality system requirements and human resources, ISO 9000 certification. Examples of quality management in product development as well as in production and marketing. Development and design of quality management systems. Further developing quality management. Continous improvements. Business Excellence and Quality Award Models, performance measurements, self-evaluation, benchmarking. Quality system documentation / quality manuals. Audit of quality management systems. Quality management in service industries. Perspectives.

Production and inventory management problems and their relationships to other management problems of the enterprise. General framework for production planning and control. Concepts and principles for production planning and control, e.g. MRP, TOC, and JIT. Forecasting, materials and capacity planning, job shop floor control. ICT and production and inventory management. Supply Chains Management.
Remarks:  Advanced course. Possibility for Master thesis project within the area.
