Aim:  To provide the students knowledge of 1)the conditions and opportunities for companies to manage problems related to environment and work environment, 2)management, analysis and planning of environment and work environment, 3)governmental regulation of the companies managing of work environment and environment, 4)the interaction between the company and its environment, e.g. customers, local community, users, and others in relation to management of work environment and environment.
Contents:  Formalized systems and other approaches to the management of environment and work environment. Prerequisites, opportunities and constraints for reaching the intended effects of such systems are analyzed. The role of management and employee participation in the managment of environment and work environment are discussed. Organization theory and theories of learning are introduced in relation to these topics.
Interaction between company and local authorities, and other actors are highlighted, especialle the effects of different inspection strategies. The role of engineers in the management of work environment and environment. Interaction between work environment and environment in companies and in relation to the authorities. Different aproaches to the regulation of company behaviour. Difficulties in implementing such approaches are discussed.
