Aim: To impart knowledge of materials technology to the students, so that students should have a knowledge of the most important technological processes for plastics, should be able to devise proces possibilities, make calculations for the most important proces parts and carry out method planning. |
Contents: Engineering Materials: Surface hardening of steel. Carbon steels and low alloy steels. Tool steels. Stainless steels. Cast iron. Aluminium and its alloys. Structure and proberties of plastics and rubber. Fiber-reinforced plastic. Systematic materials selection. Plastics Technology: Processing of thermoplastics. Injection moulding. Information about extrusion, blow moulding and thermoforming. Product- and mould design. |
Remarks: Two reports are worked out, one report within metallurgy and one report within plastics. |
