Recommended semester: 6th or 7th semester
Evaluation: Approval of coursework/reports
Only those students, who have got approval of the exercise problems will be allowed to participate in the final examination. |
Examination: 13-scale
Previous course: 94540
Compulsory: 42959 / 94510 / 42952
Prerequisites: Production Control
No credit points with: 94540
Participant limitation: Max. 20
Aim: To give the students an understanding of ideas and methods in operational research. To enable the students to use simulating software (PROMODEL) with a view to solving decisional problems in connection with the logistical flow in a production company. In connection with a concrete problem, the students should be able to: 1) formulate the problem operationally and set system limits 2) validate the feasibility of using a simulation model to solve the problem 3) program a simulation model, validate and verify the model 4) decide on a strategy for using the model 5) use the model according to the chosen strategy 6) interpret the results 7) recommend decisions on the basis of the results 8) write a report outlining the accomplished work, including model validation and documentation. |
Contents: During the semester, the students will work with maximum three problems as delinated by the list above. For their final examination, the students will work with a problem as above.
