Aim: The aim of the course is to give an introduction to synthetic carbohydrate chemistry. |
Contents: The main emphasis in the course will be placed on synthetic methods involving monosaccharides. The topics are: 1) structure, nomenclature, and preparation of monosaccharides; 2) reactions at the anomeric center; 3) protecting groups and selective reactions of the hydroxyl groups; 4) reactions of non-anomeric carbon atoms; 5) synthesis of glycosides and oligosaccharides; 6) application to synthesis of natural products |
