Aim: To extend the students understanding of making solutions of technical or chemical problems by exercises and calculations. The course is of considerable value for further studies at KT and BiC. |
Contents: The following labs are offered (2 are to be chosen by each student): 1) Expanded bed adsorption 2) Oil refining 3) Simulation of a production in a fermentor 4) Vapor-liquid equilibria 5) Simulation of a separation process 6) Rheological characterisation of structured materials 7) Separation in plate column 8) Polymerization of styren in emulsion and suspension 9) Ultrafiltration 10) Electrodialysis. |
Remarks: Every group will make 2 experimental investigations each of 6 days duration inclusive report writing. The experiments will take place at Department of Chemical Engineering and Biocentrum-DTU. There is a 2-day mandatory excursion to Cheminova Agro A/S. The last day each team shall present one of their reports which will be evaluated by the other teams. |
