Aim: The aim of the course is to give the students such an insight in process control technique that they can plan the instrumentation of rather simple plants, are able to tune single loop controllers and to implement sequential control. Emphasis is given to the mathematical description of control systems and computer simulations thereof. |
Contents: Description of simple dynamical systems. Computer simulation of dynamical systems. Proportional, integral and derivative control. Cascade- and feedfoward control. Practical methods for controller tuning. Programmable logic controllers. Control valves. Instrumentation examples from the chemical industries. |
