Aim: The purpose is to enable the students to study and solve a number of simple problems in partial differential equations originating in Engineering and Mathematical Physics by using tools from Calculus. |
Contents: Linear Partial Differential Equations (PDE's). Wave equations. Diffusion and heat equations. Laplace, Poisson and Helmholtz equations. Harmonic functions. Sources in PDE's. Initial and boundary value problems. Expansion of solutions in orthogonal series, e.g. Fourier series. Fourier and Hankel transformations. |
