Evaluation: Oral exam and approvel of coursework
Project work + oral exam |
Examination: 13-scale |
Aim: To provide the participants with a basic understanding of the analysis of non-linear dynamical phenomenae, as well as the theory and application of ordinary differential equations; furthermore through practical exemples to enable them to carry out simulations of dynamical systems using the computer. |
Contents: Phase plane analysis (theoretical and computer assisted) of nonlinear dynamical systems. Lagrange- and Hamilton dynamics. Perturbation techniques. Discrete dynamics ('maps'). Bifurcations. Symmetry breaking. Normal forms. Transitions to chaos. Attractors and their basins. Stable and unstable manifolds. Lyapunov exponments. |
Remarks: The course runs only in even-numbered years. In odd-numbered years, se course 02653. |
