At the exam approximately 30% of the problems must be done without the use of books or calculators. For the remaining problems books,notes, and calculators can be used. A PC is provided for.

Aim:  To provide the student with thorough knowledge as well as practical skills in those parts of mathematics that are useful in engineering. To introduce the student to various helpful tools from information technology. To provide the student with a conceptual understanding of mathematics and with some skills in mathematical reasoning.
Contents:  Elementary functions of one variabel. Differential equations. Complex numbers. Linear Algebra: Linear systems of equations, matrices, determinants, eigenvalues, eigenvectors, diagonalization. Functions of several variables, first part: Differentiability and linearization. Internet. Spreadsheet (Excel). Mathematics program (Maple).
