41112 Hydrodynamics - Minor project
Danish title: Strømningsmekanik - teknisk kursus
Language:  English    ECTS-creditpoints:  5
Class schedule:   januar
Exam schedule:   No exam
Recommended semester:  4th -7th semester
Scope and form:  Preparation of a program and a report under supervision
Evaluation:  Approval of coursework/reports
Examination:  13-scale
Previous course:  57206, 12522
Prerequisites:  57105 / 12520 elementary programming for example by use of MATLAB or another programming language
Aim:  To give the participants experience in the treatment of more advanced hydrodynamic problems.
Contents:  Longshore currents shall be described in far greater detail than in the Hydrodynamics course. It is particularly important to describe the bed friction in a combined wave / current motion (including the effect of the waves). A subroutine for a computer program shall be developed. Together with a description of the driving forces from the breaking waves this subroutine shall be used to develop a general computer program for longshore currents. In the second half of the course one or more specific aspects of longshore currents will be treated.
