Recommended semester: 4th -7th semester (civil), 6th or 7th semester (diplom) |
Scope and form: Lectures, exercises, project work, group work, |
Evaluation: Oral presentation and approval of reports
|
Examination: 13-scale |
Previous course: 76465 |
Prerequisites: 41201 / 76161 Preliminary design of ships |
Participant limitation: Min. 5 Max. 30 |
Aim: To give the participants the ability - to describe the economical aspects in the shipping industry; - to describe the most important aspects in the life cycle analysis of a ship project (primary environmental impact); - to perform managerial economic calculations that provides the basis for the decision making; - to formulate and solve linear and non-linear economical optimization problems; - to perform a transport economic planning on the basis of an optimization and under due consideration to the life cycle analysis. |
Contents: The principal aspects of the marine freight markets are presented in connection to the different receipts and expenditure aspects that are of relevance in the shipping market. Also the economical criteria that defines the fundament for the decision process is introduced. Life cycle analysis that focuses on energy consumption and environmental impact is performed for different transport systems alternatives. Principles and methods for formulation and solving linear and non-linear optimization are presented. The students perform a transport economical planning on the basis of an optimization that takes due account to the environmental impact of the solution. |
