Aim: 1. to provide the physiologic basis to ease biomedical engineering tasks, 2. to provide a basis for better communication with the medical disciplines, 3. to understand the increasing importance and possibilities for engineering in diagnosics and therapies of diseases, 4. to spawn the interest for biomedical engineering. |
Contents: Basic concepts of physiology The structure of the complex control systems of the body Some of the main areas of physiology will be examined - Blood- and immune system - Circulation, cardiac function and respiratory system - Water / salt balance and the renal system - Muscle and nerve physiology - The autonomous nerve system - The structure of the endocrine systems Clinical examples will be given during the lectures. Excursion to the x-ray department (different types of image formation) and the cardiologic laboratory (heart investigations and therapies). |
