41647 Vibration Theory and Acoustics
Danish title: Maskindynamik/stųj
Language:  English    ECTS-creditpoints:  5, External examination.
Type:  open university
Class schedule:   E3-A
Exam schedule:   F3-A (maj 31 2002), E3-A (dec 15 2001)
Recommended semester:  6th or 7th semester
Scope and form:  Class lectures ect.
Evaluation:  Written exam
Examination:  13-scale
Previous course:  94940
Prerequisites:  Mechanics and Strength of Materials, Strength of Materials 2
No credit points with:  94940
Aim:  To enable the students to optimise desired vibrations and minimise indesirable vibrations in practical structures, and as a part here of minimise acoustic noise. This requires an understanding of modality and natural frequencies, together with the ability to judge the effectiveness of different damping devices.
Contents:  Systems with one and two degrees of freedom. Vibration isolation. Continuous beams. Response for undamped and damped systems. Transfer function. Natural frequency and normal modes. Noise measurement, reverberation measurement, room acoustics, sound power measurement, principles of noise damping. Laboratory exercise in vibration and acoustic measurements.
