Recommended semester: 6th or 7th semester |
Scope and form: Lectures and excercises. |
Evaluation: Approval of coursework/reports
|
Examination: 13-scale |
Previous course: 94340 |
Prerequisites: Look under remarks. |
No credit points with: 94340 |
Participant limitation: Max. 26 |
Aim: The aim of the course is to enable the students to: 1) understand the possibility of using CAD in the different phases of the design process 2) understand the structure and the utility of different levels of CAD / CAM and CAE in the design environment (Concurrent Engineering) 4) analyse specific problems in CAD / CAM and CAD / CAM applications 5) obtain the basic knowledge of the use of at least one advanced CAD / CAM-system. |
Contents: Theory: CAD versus the classic design theory. Structure and utility of CAD / CAM-systems. Modeling, remedies for design, design variants, development of applications. Interface to FEM, CAM and numerical control, fields of development in CAD / CAM, Costumising 3D CAD-systems, Concurrent Engineering. As a part of the course the students have to use advanced CAD / CAM-system (Pro / Engineer) in connection with weekly exercises, and a bigger individual task, which has to be presented to the class in a lecture. |
Remarks: 1) 41632/94306/94315 (Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering Design) and 94902/94410 (Production Technology 2), 2) 41657/94325 (Mechanical Engineering Design) or "Basic training in Pro/Engineer" or the possibility to make an intensive Pro/Engineer self training study of approximately 40 hours during the first two weeks. |
