Aim:  The students have to demonstrate their ability:
- to work creatively by finding a simple business idea based on needs, new configurations, new materials or new manufacturing technologies.
- to do systematic, project-oriented work by planning, accomplishing and documenting a technical, economic pilot study of that idea and assess the result.
- to work interdisciplinarily and unassisted by combining their knowledge of production technology and materials with other subjects and by obtaining new information.
- to complete a report of the project.
Contents:  Survey of models and methods for product search / development including Concurrent Engineering / QFD and methods for idea generation and assessment. The project includes following phases: The decision of product idea - Market considerations inkluding the fixing of production size - Make design specifications - Choice of design concept, work out in detail and select materials - Product documentation such as calculations and drawings, supported by simple experiments and physical models - Process planning, including draft of tools and time estimation - Cost estimation - Final assessment of the product idea using the software DANPROD.
