Aim:  To give you the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to apply micro- and nanotechnology to chemistry, biotechnology, and medicine. The course is organized so that you can follow it whether you have a background in electronics, physics, biotechnology, chemistry, mechanics, or...
Contents:  In this course you will learn about how micro- and nanotechnology are being applied to chemistry, biology, biotechnology, and medicine. You will hear about the theoretical background of the design, the fabrication, and the behaviour of micro- and nanostructures. What materials do we use? How can we make components that can hardly be seen with the naked eye? We will discuss applications that MIC is working on right now in collaboration with industry and university, e.g. pesticide analysis of ground water, analysis of biological cells, and chemical analysis for on-line monitoring of fermentation processes. You will learn how micro- and nanotechnology can be used to improve existing analysis techniques or enable completely new analysis techniques. However, the best way to get to know micro and nanotechnology is to work with it in the laboratory. You will get the chance to design, fabricate and use your own micro- and nanostructures.
