Danish title: Elektroakustiske transducere og systemer |
Language: English ECTS-creditpoints: 10, External examination.
|
|
Recommended semester: 4th -7th semester |
Scope and form: Lecture, project work, practice problems, as well as 3 compulsory lab exercises. |
Evaluation: Oral presentation and approval of reports
Delivery of the reports to the 3 compulsory exercise is necessary for evaluation. |
Examination: 13-scale |
Previous course: 51221, 51226,51420 |
No credit points with: 51221, 51226,51420 |
Aim: To give knowledge on acoustics and electroacoustic components and systems in such a way as to make it possible to understand and evaluate the acoustic aspects of communication systems as well as the use of electroacoustic transducers. Moreover, to reach understanding of basic problematics and methods that are relevant for audio engineering. |
Contents: Analogies between mechanical, acoustical and electrical systems. Trnasducers: loudspeakers, microphones and accelerometers; theory, construction, directivity, radiation, measurements and calibration. Sound perception: masking in frequency and time domains, the psychoacoustics of noise reduction. Digital recording of sound signal. Theory of two-channel and multichannel stereo. Microphone and loudspeaker configurations. The exercises comprise the measurement of microphones and loudspeakers, digital audio engineering, and stereo recording. PSpice modelisation is used for the practice problems. The last part of the course consists in a long practical project: loudspeaker design, stereo recording and restitution, multimedia sound systems, digital sound effects, etc. |
Remarks: Thorough knowledge of simple, analog electrical circuits is required, including Bode diagram, coupling of resonant circuits and basic mechanics. |
