31652 Modelling of Physiological Systems
Danish title: Modellering af fysiologiske systemer
Language:  English    ECTS-creditpoints:  10, External examination.
Type:  , open university
Class schedule:   E3
Exam schedule:   F3-A (maj 31 2002), E3-A (dec 15 2001)

Evaluation:  Oral presentation and approval of reports
Examination:  13-scale
Prerequisites:  01032 / 31029
Aim:  to strengthen and extend the student's knowledge of signals and linear systems with practical applications in modelling of physiological systems.
Contents:  Technical subjects: physical analogies, system equations and their solution with Laplace transformation, transfer functions, open and closed loop transient response analysis, classification of control systems, system identification and optimization, introduction to nonlinear and chaotic systems, Matlab and Simulink.

Physiological subjects: Regulation of cardiac output, cardiac arrhythmia, control of peripheral blood circulation, respiration, the neuromuscular reflex, control of limbs, control of eye movement, pupil reflex, eye lense focusing, the circadian rhythm, sleep apnea.
Remarks:  The technical content in this course builds upon the course 01032 Signals and linear systems. A priori knowledge of physiology is not required. The course is offered for the first time in the fall 2002.
