Aim: The aims of the course is to give the student an understanding of the fundamental principles of digital communication systems. |
Contents: Digital coding and modulation. Error correcting codes. Bit reduction techniques. Information capacity of noisy, bandlimited transmission channels. Synchronisation and detection. Signal to noise ratio and bit error rate. Spread spectrum. Examples of digital communications systems (audio, radio, TV, satellit and optical communications systems). |
Remarks: The final mark vil be given on basis of the report and a group presentation and defence of the report (Report:50% and presentation and defence: 50%). |
