Aim: To inspire the participants to deal with audio-related problems with a critical and creative attitude. |
Contents: Analogue recording on magnetic tapes. Masking in the frequency domain and in the time domain. Noise reduction based on psychoacoustics. Digital recording: design, manufacture and playback of compact discs. Principles for digital tape recording. Application of dither. Datareduction systems. Stereophonic theory: time-delay and intensity stereo, artificial-head recordings, microphone positioning, sound field around the head. Multichannel stereo. Loudspeakers: the loudspeaker as sound source, cabinet diffraction. Outdoor sound reinforcement. |
