Aim: To give the students an advanced introduction to electromagnetic field theory, that will enable the student to keep up will specialized literature and to solve complex problems. Principles and techniques are treated within exact and asymptotic electromagnetic theory. In particular, the application of the Fourier transformation of fields from reflector antennas and fields in optoelectronics. |
Contents: Fermat's principle. Canonical problems. Babinet's principle. Field around a current layer. Equivalence principles. The general scattering problem. Physical optics. Diffraction theories. Calculation of fields using Fourier transformation. Dyadic Green's function. Expansions in elementary waves. Gratings. Gaussian beams. Exact calculations. Time domain techniques. |
