Aim: To obtain the skill of writing, testing and using computer programs that can solve strength, stability and vibrational problems. Understand the basis of the finite element method. |
Contents: Writing a specific computer program for static and dynamic analysis. Application of the finite element method to trusses, plates, axisymmetric solids and general three dimensional solids. Relations to solution procedures and numerical analysis. Methods for dynamic analysis with many (thousands) degrees of freedom. Introduction to optimal design and to solution of non-linear problems. Iteration and incremental procedures. |
